Green Minneapolis announced today that Executive Director Win Rockwell has resigned and will transition from his leadership role in September 2016.

Rockwell joined Green Minneapolis as its founding Executive Director in 2015. He has led the development of Green Minneapolis’ vision for its work as a multi-project parks and greening conservancy for downtown Minneapolis. He will consult with Green Minneapolis during the transition to new leadership.

“Win Rockwell brought a compelling vision for the new downtown Commons as a vital, engaging destination park – serving as a gathering place not only for the downtown community, but also for the City’s diverse communities and neighborhoods.” said Green Minneapolis Board Chair David Wilson. “Win’s goal of activating the Commons and engaging the community – through health, fitness, the performing arts, nature, language, reading and inclusive neighborhood programming – is a vision upon which Green Minneapolis will build in the next phase of its work.”

“I have been privileged to work with Green Minneapolis, its Board of Directors and so many in the community in developing the vision for Green Minneapolis,” said Rockwell. “We have defined goals for what the Commons can become. We have helped define goals for other key initiatives including the rehabilitation of Peavey Plaza and the greening of downtown’s streets. My work in framing the initial projects of Green Minneapolis is now finished. I look forward to supporting the vision as the work continues.”

Board Chair David Wilson will serve as the principal point of contact for Green Minneapolis as the Board undertakes a search for a new Executive Director.
