City Council approves Peavey Plaza Fund Raising Agreement with Green Minneapolis

On Friday April 28, The Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to authorize an agreement with Green Minneapolis to raise funds for the City’s project to revitalize Peavey Plaza.

“Green Minneapolis is excited to partner with the City of Minneapolis to raise funds for the revitalization of Peavey Plaza. This historically landmarked public space has the potential to once again be a green, vibrant gathering place for people to listen to concerts on its terraces, relax to the sound of water tumbling from the plaza’s fountains, or have lunch under the shade of its trees. Bringing Peavey Plaza back to life is another key step in making downtown’s public realm more welcoming and engaging for all in our community.” said David Wilson, Green Minneapolis board chair.

Under the agreement, Green Minneapolis will provide fund raising services and will serve as the fiduciary for private funds raised on behalf of the City for the Peavey Plaza revitalization project.

“This work in support of fundraising for Peavey Plaza is key to Green Minneapolis’ mission – enabling members of the business and philanthropic community to invest and support the green spaces and public realm that make Minneapolis a thriving, inclusive place for residents, visitors and workers.”, said Beth Shogren, Executive Director of Green Minneapolis.
